Seasonal Summer Employment

Thank you for your interest in employment with Austin Sunshine Camps, located in Austin, Texas. The following positions are available for our 2019 summer camp season.  These jobs are very competitive; please complete your application as soon as possible.

Camp Director

Camp Directors will manage programming and staff at each camp. Camp Directors will be the primary persons in charge of oversight of camp at all times. Some roles of a camp director are communication with parents/guardians, implementation of all-camp events, ensuring the daily camp schedule is followed, and assisting counselors with camper needs. Prior camp experience, youth development experience, and/or management experience are required. Camp Directors must be in Austin, Texas from May 9th – August 14th, 2019.  Camp Directors make $6,000 over the course of the summer.  Apply online now.

Camp Counselor

Camp Counselors will be members of the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program. Through this program, members bring passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions. By building relationships with campers in our summer camp environment, AmeriCorps VISTA counselors will impact the lives of low-income youth directly, empowering them to transform their communities. Counselors are the primary persons responsible for direct supervision of campers and ensuring campers have a positive and life-changing experience at camp. Counselors will lead cabin groups of approximately ten campers through activities, meals, free time, and cabin time. Each counselor will also be in charge of overseeing a specific program area for the camp. Prior camp, youth development, and/or outdoor programs experience preferred. Camp Counselors must be in Austin, Texas from May 17th – August 14th, 2019.  Camp Counselors make $3,000 over the course of the summer.  Apply online now.

Food Service Manager

The Food Service Manager directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, as well as the ordering and inventory of all food and supplies. The Food Service Manager will also assist with all-camp events and oversight of counselors during their shift in the kitchen, making them an integral part of the management team. Prior food service experience is required. Prior camp, youth development, and/or management experience is preferred.  Food Service Managers must be in Austin, Texas from May 20th – August 20th, 2019.  Food Service Managers make $6,000 over the course of the summer. Apply online now.
