Austin Sunshine Camps

2018 Annual Report

A Message from the austin sunshine camps CEO

It has been an exciting year here at Austin Sunshine Camps!  With the addition of new, rock star team members and the launch of two new programs, we feel primed and ready to accomplish our 2018-2021 strategic goals:

(1) Commit to our Core
(2) Become Financially Sustainable
(3) Serve 1,350 Campers Each Summer by 2020

In order to achieve our goals, we must remain laser focused on impact and implementation.  What are we trying to accomplish, why is it important and how are we going to accomplish it?
For us, the answer is rooted in our culture, a word that takes on a whole new meaning in an environment as rich as camp.

 As we move into the next 90 years, we will do so with intentionality, ultimately empowering our campers to become future role models and leaders in their communities by believing, like we do, that they S.H.I.N.E;

                                                                                         We put Safety first                             Responsibility for ourselves, our camp and each other

                                                                                         We are Honest                                    Truthfulness in all we do

                                                                                                We Include everyone                  Every person matters

                                                                                               We Never give up                         Persistence, grit and resilience

                                                                                         We are Empowered                           We can accomplish anything

A Message from the YOUNG MEN'S BUSINESS LEAGUE and austin sunshine camps President

Since founding Austin Sunshine Camps in 1928, Young Men’s Business League continued to support ASC as its sole philanthropic endeavor through volunteerism, financial contributions, and governance and I’m proud of our work this year to carry forward such an important legacy. This year YMBL members helped send 868 kids to camp by raising nearly $300,000 through our annual fundraising campaign, which leverages the power of our individual networks to support ASC’s mission. Additionally, YMBL members spent countless hours planning and producing major revenue-generating events such as the Austun Under 40 Awards, Sunshine Run, and our annual golf tournament so that we could, in turn, contribute those net proceeds to ASC. Most importantly, YMBL’s membership spent more than 1,000 hours volunteering with campers at camp events such as camper pick up, Carnival Night, and our new ice cream social. Engaging directly with our campers is one of the most impactful and rewarding opportunities we offer our membership and through these we are able to create meaningful, life-changing experiences for these deserving kids.

– Gordon B. Moore, Young Men’s Business League and Austin Sunshine Camps 2018 President
