Welcome
The Austin Sunshine Camps are owned and operated by the Young Men's Business League of Austin. Founded in 1928, the Camps seek to teach life skills, self confidence, trust and teamwork, while providing outdoor fun through traditional activities like hiking, swimming, canoeing, and sports.
The Austin Sunshine Camps serves over 800 high-potential, low-income youth every summer, and their year-round leadership and mentoring programs serve many more. The Camps provide an overnight summer camp experience at NO COST to the children's families.
News
Congratulations to our students!
In 2009, Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps Challenge and Leadership participants logged more than 1,000 community service hours! What an amazing success! Activities included the MLK march, The Austin Marathon, the Blackshear Beautification Project and the Trail of Lights. Community service is a vital aspect of our programs as we believe that in giving, you receive the most. We are so proud of all of our Challenge and Leadership students. Thank you for contributing to our community!
Holiday Toy Drive Success!
At the end of 2009, Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps had a holiday toy drive. Thanks to the amazing generosity of donors, we were able to provide gifts and food to 110 disadvantaged kiddos in Central Texas. A special thank you to Greystar Properties, Austin Sport and Social Club and all the amazing individuals who stepped forward to buy, wrap and deliver gifts.
Eat out, help us!
November 27 through December 6 when you eat at Texedelphia, Austin Java or Uncle Billy's you can donate to Austin Sunshine Camps! We are extremely grateful for their donation. Now let's get out and support them!
Sponsor a family this Thanksgiving or give to our Holiday Gift Drive!
Austin Sunshine Camps is kicking off our annual "Sponsor-a-family" for Thanksgiving program. We hope to give a little extra this holiday season to families who wont have a Thanksgiving dinner. Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps asks that you be willing to donate a turkey, stuffing, vegetables and something sweet for "your family." Or, H-E-B gift cards of any denomination are always welcome. To participate, please email Michelle Porst for more information. We also have a holiday gift drive. We have thirty families and children who may not be able to celebrate this holiday season. To sponsor a child we ask that you give two gifts, something that they need and something that they want. For more information about a child and their needs, please email Michelle Porst.
