Sunrise Leadership Students Reflect on New Technologies…

Whether it’s technology in the classroom or the green technology revolution, our Leadership students always have something to say:

I feel that the green technology revolution that is developing is good for the earth as well as the United States. It’s a good thing that we have alternative energy and organic foods. It helps and it considers the people in the future. It’s a thoughtful process that is good for the community as well. Precious, 10th Grade

I believe that having more technology could be very beneficial in the classroom environment because students will be able to understand information on a deeper level. However, I believe that if too much technology is introduced people will start relying on it then when something in the technology industry is corrupted things will fail. Melissa, 12th Grade

I think technology definitely helps in school because technology keeps the attention of students and technology is ever-changing. In order to keep up with the times and keep the students interested I think innovation in the classroom is important. Anice, 12th Grade

I feel that more technology could help in classrooms such as laptops, ipods, or even a cell phone. The reason I say this is because mass communication is the biggest communication possible and it helps spread so much important information that is needed. If you have any of the technology that I listed - you could get on the world wide web in class and look up the answer to any of your teachers questions. For example, say your teacher asked you right after Obama’s inauguration speech, “what was your favorite quote?” You could easily go to Yahoo or Google and look up the transcript and find your favorite part of the speech. I personally think that with more technology in the classroom we will lose understanding of mental discipline. For example, if we just worked on computers all day then we might get lazy with doing hand work. I think for memorization purposes, hand work is very important. Alexis, 10th Grade

I think that more technology in the classroom can help improve our learning because we can do many things at the same time. I also think that the green technology is a good idea because it will help the environment. Gloria, 9th Grade

I believe that technology is not needed in classrooms because we can find the same information in our school books. But, technology does help cut research time in half. I also believe green technology is a good way to help the earth but green products are a little too expensive. Ryan, 9th Grade

I don’t think it’s necessary to have more technology in the classroom. There is not really that much technology that changes the learning process in the classroom. I don’t think there should be more than three computers in a room. If the assignment is that important then the teacher can take the class to the computer lab. Tiah, 10th Grade
