The original inspiration for the Austin Sunshine Camps was to bolster the immunity of disadvantaged, underfed children against tuberculosis. The intent has changed since 1928, but our goal remains the same: to strengthen “at-risk” youth against those things that threaten their health—mental and physical. To date, more than 40,000 children have ben efited from these efforts.

A single summer camp has grown into an entire series of weeklong camps during the summer, a year-round leadership training program, and several scholarships for Sunshine Campers who graduate from high school.
